Talia Moscovitz: Edinburgh, United Kingdom; American lens based artist and photographer from Atlanta, Georgia, Talia Moscovitz has worked with various galleries in curatorial and photographic based roles. Since gaining her degree in 2007 in Photography and International Affairs from Northeastern University in Boston, her work has been exhibited in Atlanta, Boston, Accra and Dublin. In September of 2009, she had successful solo exhibition of her recent lens based installation work at the Market Studios, Dublin in coordination with Thisisnotashop gallery. Talia’s work focuses on a personal exploration of the nature of time and how our experience of its passage is ever-fluctuating; condensing and expanding. These shifts in the perception and delineation of the past and the present can alter an understanding of self, home and relationships. Her work explores the camera’s ability to seemingly freeze time by making an impression of moving light, and how a photograph can drastically influence memory and an external awareness of identity. Her photographs also express a certain inescapable loneliness of the interior existence, and a futile, longing to grab hold of fluid relationships and bonds.
